About

“William and Mary: Moment by moment. Fueled by love and understanding.” Welcome HoWM. Inspired by Brandon Stanton’s Humans of New York, we strive to capture the human experience through the eyes of William and Mary students. This blog is an extension of our Facebook page and our Instagram page as a platform for longer or more in-depth stories and will also act as an experiment for video or sound recordings as well as other modes of storytelling we find throughout this adventure. Please feel free to participate by leaving comments.

We believe in goodness of humans and it is our mission to pass that belief on to you.

  1. Hey, My name is Maria and I’m a current sophomore at the college. I’m planning on starting a thing that is similar to humans of William and Mary for Chinese students. Is it possible that I can talk with any one of the member so that I can get some tips for interviewing?

    1. We’re glad that our project could serve as a source of inspiration. Our team members generally avoid interviewing close friends. In some sense, the process of interviewing is more like a conversation, where we listen and share at the same time. There doesn’t have to be a theme or a topic. We usually talk about whatever is on our mind, or more crucially, what is on the interviewee’s mind. We then dig deeper and ask the why questions. Hopefully these tips would help a little if you are thinking about doing similar things. Feel free to email us at wmhumans@gmail.com if you have any further questions.
